About
I’m Dan Schrementi… and this is my blog. So of all the exit ramps on the information superhighway, you’ve somehow stumbled across it.
I’m a 31-year-old marketing professional from the western suburbs of Chicago. I graduated from Illinois State University in 2002 with a BS in Marketing and I am now over halfway through an MBA from Northern Illinois University – a project I’ve undertook in the evenings, one class at a time. Professionally, I work as the Director of Gaming Marketing and New Media at Incredible Technologies (IT), the largest US manufacturer of amusement games and emerging manufacturer of video slot casino games. Prior to IT I spent a year in the marketing communications department at the Chicago White Sox and had the pleasure to cut my teeth working for my favorite MLB ball club. From there I spent a number of years as Marketing Associate at IT, working on brands like Golden Tee Golf and Silver Strike Bowling. A slight role shift as marketing manager allowed me to oversee online and new media development projects with and emphasis on developing the player communities of our popular games. Now I focus 100% of my time developing the company’s new casino brands.
I love my job and what I do for a living but it doesn’t completely define me – hence the categorical LIVE. WORK. PLAY. on this homepage. As for LIVE, I have a beautiful wife , a cool little 2-year-old boy and a fat, obnoxious bulldog named Bruno who’s videos on YouTube will get more hits than this site ever will. I grew up 60-miles south of Chicago in a close family with 100% italian roots. I love to cook and more so, to eat. As for PLAY – I am a passionate motorsports fan, particularly open wheel racing. While I love all Indy Car and Formula One, it’s the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that holds the most special place in my heart. Finally, I am longtime karting road racer in the Midwest Championship Enduro Series. I began racing karts when I was ~8-years-old in a restricted 5hp Briggs-and-Stratton four cycle engine – the kart was day-glow orange, and awesome. I now race a Tony Kart with 125cc Rotax Max engine that tops out somewhere in the 110mph range. I’ve had the pleasure of racing on some of the midwest’s finest road courses. It’s a hobby started by my Dad that I hope to carry on for generations.
So there you have it, it’s not easy to write a bio about yourself but sometimes I think it’s a healthy exercise of the mind. This site contains a mish-mash of opinions from a person with the perspective that you’ve just read. Some of the posts are about me, for my friends and family to read, others are just times when I am compelled to say something to the world that may/may not care. Regardless, it makes me happy to do it and even happier that someone (maybe even you) read it and cared.
Good times,
Dan
