Silver Strike LIVE is Cool Bowling

Make bowling cool…

That was our mission when we created the trailer for our new video bowling game at Incredible Technologies, Silver Strike LIVE.  Really, it’s not rocket science – I figured something out when we made this trailer.  If the game is cool – and what you record from the game – then the marketing will be cool.  Make sense?

The game creators at Incredible Technologies accomplished just that.  They took a game, that was doing pretty damn well in its original versions (Silver Strike Bowling and Silver Strike Bowler’s Club).  They rebuilt the game, refined the mechanics, upped it to HD and, most importantly, connected it LIVE via the ITnet tournament system that Golden Tee LIVE uses.  What you’re left with is a big ol’ ball of cool that was relatively easy to package together in this trailer.

Now with all that said, our video team accomplished the other goals that the nit-pickers (like me) in marketing wanted.  The game is deep, the trailer needed to look deep (thus the multiple screens in each scene).  The game is edgy, not just sporty and the trailer needed to reflect that too (which we accomplished with the look in the backgrounds, thongs, tattoos, crazy balls, etc).  And quite frankly, the game is NEW – it’s not just an update.  We needed to show lots of gameplay which, thanks to the hardwork of our game developers, speaks for itself.

And now for the exercise

We’re just marketing a bowling game here but think about the strategic hurdles that the marketing team(s) at the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) need to handle?  Here they have a sport – an OLD sport – with all sorts of cliche’s and stigmas.  Not only that, there is an entire business infrastructure – from bowling centers to pin makers – built around the sport that needs new, young blood to survive.  Those are some HIGH stakes.

So next time you see a real bowling commercial or ad, just think about the mission-impossible that they are trying to accomplish.  In a world full of technological distractions and capabilities, they too are trying to make bowling look cool to you…
